house design
Product Description

At the beginning of the new century, there’s a groundswell of popular nostalgia for period houses with an authentic pedigree. Regional styles of old homes in all parts of the country have captured the imagination of homebuyers who are disillusioned with the cookie-cutter sameness of new home construction. Many are turning to the history and tradition of their own neighborhoods for inspiration in old houses–themes that will inspire and inform them in building a new home that will preserve a sense of place and the feeling of “home.”
Creating a New Old House explores how architects, builders, and craftsmen are reinterpreting the traditional American house. Through photographs and engaging text, brief discussions of history and craftsmanship, and occasional sidelong glances at the workings of real old houses, Versaci employs his “Pillars of Traditional Design” to explain how traditional houses go together and what gives them their unique design appeal. The author explores the creative work of architects, builders, and craftsmen from all corners of America who are creating new “old” houses in a revival of the distinctive traditions of American homebuilding–and refitting them to work for the demands of modern family living.

Im doing a coursework base on designing a interactive website. it says on my task plan that i have to include house design and concept design in two website plans and choose the better as my main. I kind know the definition of "concept" but house design i have no idea. can someone help me asap please. thanks

A concept design is an overall impression of the house, it could be round, underground, a box on stilts etc etc.

A house design is getting all the internal bits that you would include within a house to work, i.e. linking bedrooms to a landing space and bathroom, a layout of the ground floor to flow from room to room, in other words it has to work, it has to be practical.

Whereas a concept is exactly that, a dream design.

house designHey everyone!
Hope you enjoy the video! So I decided to move again before we finally start building. I decided to use some of my design ability to make this house. Its fairly hard to do anything nice in Minecraft. So hopefully you like it.

Comment!
i have made this suggestion before on one of your vids and it had something like 34 thumbs up but i guess you never got around to it. What i would like to see is something using your degree in architecture. Do something creative not just some dumb hole in a wall like normal. I myself would love to see your creativity and knowledge about architecture show in what your building.
Thanks!

house design
Product Description

Sarah Susanka’s first three books have launched a revolution in residential architecture with the message that it’s not the size of the house that matters, but the quality of its design and details. Her books strike a chord in homeowners, who are finding that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. Now, in “Home by Design, Susanka presents 30 design concepts that can transform any house into a welcoming home filled with character, beauty, and comfort. Opening readers’ eyes to what’s possible, she makes spatial design accessible to the layperson. Each of the design concepts here, from entryways to public/private space to window positioning, is illustrated with examples from houses by leading architects. Homeowners will learn how to assess their environment to discover what works or doesn’t, and find the necessary tools to create the homes they really want.

Describe in paragraph form please, need some ideas for the house im planning to build. thank you!

The first thing you should invest in is proper insulation. Temperature control is key to keeping the energy costs down. Second, have the roof designed for attic mounted Forced Air Unit, also have the roof color light in shade, (maybe even consider solar energy, and gable style roof design for maximum solar panel coverage. Dual pain windows (small in size) are key for temperature control. These are some basic ideas, let me know if you would like more.

house design
Product Description

The key to creating a house that is memorable, satisfying, and enduring is to apply a group of design concepts–or “patterns”–that focus on the experience of being in a home. In this groundbreaking work, internationally respected architects Max Jacobson, Murray Silverstein, and Barbara Winslow present the ten essential patterns that shape and define a well-crafted home. Patterns explore the presence of light, the relationship between indoors and out, the flow through rooms, and the feel of one space as you are sitting in another.
Clearly written and profusely illustrated with houses from all over the country, “Patterns of Home,” brings the timeless lessons of residential design to anyone seeking inspiration and direction in the design or remodel of a home. The patterns described in the book can make the difference between a home that satisfies only the material needs of the owners and one that captures the essence of home.
